The Statue of Liberty

Here are a few pictures of the Statue of Liberty. One lesson I learned is to not ask the shaky guy with thick glasses to take a picture. You'll see why below.

This is why I said it's a bad idea to ask the shaky guy with thick glasses to take a picture. I was hoping he would center us, and thus, too, the Statue. Below is the unedited result.

Grito de Dolores

We returned to the hotel room on September 15th to find the Empire State Building lit up in red, white and green. There were lighting fireworks somewhere, too. Turns out it was Grito de Dolores, which has become emblematic of Mexican independence.

Home Redecorating

We're redecorating our house. I think this piano and harp will look good in the living room.

The Met - Jackson Pollock

Unlike Monet, Carol's doesn't dig Jackson Pollock.

If you could read her mind as I took this picture, you might have heard (in Valley Girl voice), "I don't get it..."

Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the biggest, amazingest museum I've ever been to. We spent the good part of a day there, and saw maybe 20% of it. If I lived in New York I'd visit it at least once a month.

Here are a couple of shots of the entry way from the second floor.

Stairs up to the second floor. That security guard seems to think he's Napoleon.
